Bell, Boeing, Vertol V-222 Osprey.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok so it's not an Osprey. I started a project to create the Vertol V-222 Osprey about a month ago. After a few weeks of playing with the numbers I gave up. I got close in some respects but the truth is MS Flight Sim just won't allow you to model the flight dynamics of an aircraft like the VTOL Osprey. So this half finished file sat on my hard-drive for a while until I decided to give it a fly just to see how far off it was. Well as it turned out I suddenly discovered that I had created a rather unique aircraft even though it did not fly the way I originally wanted it to. Give it a try.
Copy OSPERY.AIR & DC9SIMUL.AIR to your FLTSIM5\SIM directory. Then run Flight Sim & choose the Osprey from the list of aircraft.
Use the flaps to control forward speed. With full flaps this plane will stay airborne at 45 knots. Retract them & she'll accelerate up to her max speed of around 261 knots.
I used Simulas DC-9 as the airframe for this plane because I needed something big. The Osprey has a length of 56' with a wing span of 38' in real life. It's not a small plane.
